Our sailing boats are a labour of love

More than of carbon and resin, our boats are made of the work of all our people. Only passion, professionalism, diversity, curiosity and creativity of all allow us to realize our boats, as beautiful and interesting as our work.

Obviously the work and the talent of the individuals are key, but even more what counts is the ability to work as a team: “With the talent you win games, only but with teamwork and intelligence you win championships.” (Michael Jordan).

Our championships are our shipowners: the first objective of everybody, from the President to the designers up to all workers, is to listen, interpret and implement all needs and wishes of our owners, with whom we share all phases of design, construction, fitting out and launching of boats.

Luciano Gandini’s eyes sparkle when he talks about the Mylius 19E95 and generally what he calls love “our” boat, as the “we” is a constant for this dynamic entrepreneur in the packaging industry.

Consider that, just as an example, the “strip of plastic” that acts as a handle to the packaging of six bottles of mineral water was his idea, applied by machines that he designs and builds with his company TwinPack.

The passions of Gandini? The work, precisely measured by the success of TwinPack, which has a yearly turnover of € 35 millions, and sailing. As he likes to remind himself: “Since I was a boy, in the Idroscalo in Milan or in Lake Garda, any boat was fine!” Name of all his boats: “Twin Soul”.
The Gandini Racing Team was always full of champions, from Paolo Cian to Francesco de Angelis. His latest idea: “Merging a young shipyard with an industry group to reset the design and production methods.” Result: by the end of 2011 Mylius Yachts is owned at 51% by Twin Pack, with Luciano Gandini as President.

Here’s his personal business and strategic approach: “A great exchange of information between the construction site and packaging company with engineers of the two companies that talk and discuss every day. Therefore, production processes and systems built to the same high industrial standards. A continuous exchange. With my entrepreneurial setting I could not have done otherwise.”

Alberto Simeone chief designer

Head of Design and Engineering & Technical Manager

Architect, yacht designer and seaman, Alberto is one of the founders of Mylius in 2003, with two friends. Son of art, generalist and versatile by nature and training, he deepens the rudiments of yacht design, technology and construction techniques from his father Mino, a famous yacht designer and builder in the ‘70s and ‘80s.

Now he coordinates the technical staff of Mylius, composed of engineers, architects, designers and technical specialists, with an approach aimed at achieving high performance and comfortable sailing yachts. Alberto thus brings forward decisively the idea of a full integrated design between all the components that contribute to its creation, looking for the perfect balance through the linearity and simplicity of the solutions and the elimination of redundant elements, both in the interiors and in the outer parts.

Expert sailor and racer, he then verifies personally the results of his design choices in a continuous process of feedback between the sea and the drawing board.
